6. Sponsorship
Ahhh, the sponsorship request ... take a look at the various scenarios below, decide which best fits your situation, and check out Ride's advice.
1) Should I be sponsored?
I've got more than the basics down and I'm already ripping up the local scene! My friends all say I've got balls and have good style, but my mom and dad say my grades aren't good enough for them to buy me new gear.Ride Response: Trust us, even the best were in your shoes at one point in time. You have a long way to go, but at least you're looking in the right direction. Maybe it's time to talk to your local shop and enter some contests. Check our website for the dealer nearest you and ask how you can get involved. In time, you could be next in line to get on Ride's regional program and then you'll be the envy of all your friends! Hey, your parents may disown you, but at least you'll be sponsored!
2) Yo, you seen my moves yet dude?
I've got video and photos to show you, so you can see why I deserve to be on the Ride Team. I've done well at some contests, have already been working with my local Ride rep, and I have a shop sponsor. Can I get some extra love?Ride Response: If this is you, show us what you've got! If you've gotten this far, you must be a ripper, so now the only thing to do is wait for a spot on the team. Send in your footage and remember we want to sponsor you, so be yourself, sell yourself and do your own thing! Trying to be like Mikey or Mathes will get you nowhere. No clones, be different!
3) Sponsorship!
I need a TM and a solid sponsor! Look, you know me. I used to be sponsored by that other company, but their heads were stuck up their ass so I wanted to talk to Ride. I'm going through the sponsorship blues ... please help!Ride Response: Send us your resume, accomplishments and goals, and we’ll see what we can do. Look, we know most of those other board brands are all talk and will have you running around in circles to where you almost don't even want to ride! F—k that! We don't like running around in circles, either.
Thanks for your interest and remember why you snowboard. Keep it real and have fun!
7. Submitting Graphic Ideas
To submit board graphics, we'll check out any of the following: jpegs (72dpi and no larger than 1200x1200 pixels), websites or color copies, but NO portfolios. Only send us things you DO NOT want back. Ride Snowboards is not responsible for returning anything you send us, so have at it

15. The History of Ride
Founded in Redmond, WA. in late 1992, Ride hit the market with only four board models and a vision - to create a snowboard company "for the people" built upon technical innovation, superior quality and "selling the dream." With a team of top pro and up-and-coming riders, a strong product line, a zealous ad campaign and quite a bit of hard work, the first few years were a success.
In order to meet the growing demand of snowboard and skateboard-influenced clothing, in 1994, Ride launched an outerwear and streetwear line under the brand name Cappel Clothing. Today, this line has evolved into a far more technical outerwear line, providing a phenomenal fusion of street fashion and snowboard function known today as Ride Snowboards Outerwear. The Cappel series has since made its triumphant return in the 05/06 collection of Ride Outerwear.
Shortly after relocating to Preston, Washington in 1995, Ride launched the Preston brand of snowboard bindings. Ride's proprietary technology made Preston Bindings one of the best-known binding names in the industry. Eventually incorporating the Preston name into the Ride line, today Ride Bindings are the market share leader in aluminum bindings and continually lead the charge of lightweight durability, mobility and response.
In conjunction with the Preston brand, the snowboard boot category for Ride also planted its roots in 1995. From fairly meager beginnings, the Ride Boot program has grown into its own and has become an award-winning collection. Today, with revolutionary design features such as our In2grated Construction with Body Active Intuition Liners, Ride boots are the lightest weight, shortest-length performance boots on the market, hands down.
Also in 1995, Ride acquired the most respected snowboard manufacturer in the world, Thermal Snowboards Inc. of Corona, California. Later known as Ride Manufacturing, the facility used state-of-the-art computer technology, aerospace engineering, aircraft-grade tooling and other leading-edge techniques to design, test and manufacture the most advanced snowboards on the market. Today, Ride Manufacturing has expanded into a new facility in Asia, doubling its manufacturing space and equipment arsenal. Ride’s snowboard program continues to design industry-leading snowboards utilizing its Thermal Construction Technology process and which feature unique performance innovations like Cleave Edge™, Slimewalls® and Carbon Array power distribution. Taking tech's to the next level, Ride now incorporates additional "innoventive" technologies such as Membrain™ topsheets, Pop Rods™ and Pop Stixs™.
Recently relocating to Seattle, WA., Ride has never strayed from our original goal of technical innovation, superior quality and "selling the dream," and continues to maintain its distinctive brand identity within the snowboarding market. For Ride, it's not about being the biggest ... it's about being the best at what we do and truly becoming a great snowboard company "for the people." Through the passion and dedication of all of Ride’s employees and global affiliates, Ride has firmly established itself as a snowboard industry leader.
Ride Demographics
At the end of the 07/08 season, based on rider submissions & Ride Chronicle registrations, Ride's demographics are approximately 85% Male and 15% Female, with the largest age grouping being 18-24 years old. On average, $300 - $600 is spent annually on snowboard gear, and though over 20% of respondents are lucky enough to get over 50 days a year on the slopes, most ride 11-30 days, which is well above the reported industry average of 9 days per season. And there you have it!
16. What is Ride doing to lessen their environmental impact?
At Ride we have begun making strides in the right direction and have implemented processes to help reduce our impact on the environment. We have cut out waste by replacing the heavy PVC board bags with a more durable and fully recyclable shrink wrap. For boots, not only are the boot boxes and toe stuffing recyclable, we are using recycled EVA backing in the shell of our boots. All of Ride’s baseplates and heelcups are recyclable aluminum. On the apparel side, our hangtags are made from 50% recycled material and Ride Outerwear hangars and polybags are made from recycled plastic. At global headquarters, we have implemented numerous processes such as electronically stored files, using paper that is made up of 30% post consumer material and commuter incentives to bike, carpool and bus to work. We will continue to address how we can improve upon these measures throughout all aspects of our business.
