Mike Aho

Ride Snowboards reveals a new collaboration with Mike Aho, whose artwork is featured on the limited edition DH2.6 snowboard. Mike’s surreal creations provide a suiting façade for Ride’s signature style, and represent the sixth of seven limited edition snowboards introduced over the past three seasons.

Mike Aho’s visual art, film work and music have come together in recent years to create a cohesive body of work that uses low-fidelity sounds and images to create a world of discontent and surreality that is overgrown with people, dying foliage and nostalgic comedy. As a commercial artist he is currently the Art Director of Marketing for Volcom Clothing and has worked with Drag City Records, Matador Records, Transworld Skateboard Magazine and Roger Skateboards. Aho’s music project ((sounder)), featuring Jesse Lee and Tom Hoff from American Analog Set, has released 2 LP’s and 3 EP’s; which received praise from NPR and MTV.COM among many others. He is the co-creator, writer and director for the cult-status surrealist comedy ‘The Internet Shack’ for Thrasher Magazine. Aho has animated/directed videos for Bonnie Prince Billy, The Entrance Band, Mando Diao and Royal Trux.

Mike Aho lives in Austin, Texas and has shown his visual art and performed music all over the United States, London, Tokyo, Peru and France.

Ride is thrilled to have Aho’s artwork showcased on the DH2.6 and couldn’t be more stoked to have his animation talents put to work on our two 30 second video clips surrounding the graphics.
Enjoy!
